When someone is searching for me on 118800.co.uk, can they see any of my personal information?
No. All searches on 118800.co.uk are via our secure application that doesn’t show mobile numbers or names and addresses of individuals. Neither do we give prompts that could disclose personal information. We simply say whether we’ve found the individual and then send an SMS message on behalf of the person searching.

When someone tries to get in touch with me by making a call to 118 800, can anyone see my mobile number?

No. Our unique call connection procedure prevents it. Calls to people in our directory are made by our operators. The dialing is done securely by our system to keep your number safe - even our operators never see the mobile numbers of people in the directory. They are simply informed by our computer system that a connection is available.

Will I get sales calls via 118 800?
We do not sell or pass data to any commercial organisations. And the personal details of people in our directory are held by us securely and not available over the internet. Therefore it’s unlikely you will receive any sales calls via our service. But we will monitor call patterns for any suspicious activity, investigate complaints thoroughly and de-list anyone we feel is abusing the service.

Can I be ex-directory with 118 800?
If anyone would like to become ex-directory from the service it is quick and easy to do by visiting our website, 118800.co.uk, and following the link in the Frequently Asked Questions.
The mobile directory itself will be active from the 18th June and as of then customers can either continue to use the website to become ex-directory, or text the letter ‘E’ to 118 800 from their mobile phone, or call us on 0800 138 6263 from the phone you want to be made ex-directory.

The first time 118 800 contacts you will be sent an SMS reminding you about how to become ex-directory. There is no cost for becoming ex-directory if you use the website, however if you text or call 0800 138 6263 then standard network charges will apply.

I am ex-directory, so how can I be put back in the directory?
If you know you are already listed by us as ex-directory – and therefore we have your correct address - you can text the letter ‘I’ (for ‘in’) to 118 800. Alternatively, you can join the directory from this website.

Could a child’s mobile be in your directory?
Our policy is not to include anyone in the directory who isn’t 18 years of age. However where a parent has given their mobile phone to a child to use, we are unable to identify this unless the parent informs us.

If you have easy access to your child’s mobile, simply text the letter E to 118 800. If you don’t have easy access to your child’s mobile please call us on 0800 138 6263 with the mobile number, your name and your address. Then we will make the mobile ex-directory on yor behalf. Please allow up to 4 weeks for your ex-directory request to take effect

What if I receive an abusive message via your service?
When someone uses 118800.co.uk to find you, we send you an SMS message with that person’s contact details. We never give them your number or the ability to send you an SMS message directly. So there is no possibility of you receiving an abusive message.

If someone calls 118 800 to be connected to you, and you agree to be connected, then we are unable to control what they then say. We’re very sorry if this ever results in an abusive message. Should it ever happen, please call us on 0800 138 6263 with the details and we will investigate. Where the situation warrants it, we will blacklist such callers.

Any general concerns about nuisance callers should be reported to your mobile phone company
